An EN-1366-4 tested, fire-rated movement joint, Sika Emseal Emshield® WFR CE is a silicone-faced movement joint for European and other markets requiring CE marking. Tested by CSTB France and certified by European Technical Assessment (ETA), Emshield WFR CE provides up to 4-hours of fire resistance, and is a water, air, and smoke seal with 100% movement capability. Other features include thermal insulation and UV stability. In contrast to fire barrier blankets Emshield WFR CE can be installed entirely from the front of the wall, and performs without the need for invasive metal anchors or complex field fabricated assemblies. Emshield WFR CE provides a cost effective, long-term watertight seal.
Emshield WFR CE combines a factory-applied, low modulus silicone with an open cell polyurethane foam infused with a water-based, fire-retardant, acrylic dispersion. The traffic-grade silicone facing is factory adhered to the infused foam on two sides at a width greater than the maximum anticipated joint extension, and is then cured. When compressed, the silicone facing forms a bellows profile capable of accommodating +/-50% (total 100%) movement from the product’s nominal size. The bellows fold, and unfold during movement virtually free of tensile stresses.
Emshield WFR CE is supplied precompressed to slightly less than its nominal size for ease of installation. To install sticks, clean the substrate faces, apply supplied epoxy adhesive to the substrates. After removing packing materials insert the Emshield WFR CE into the joint. After the Emshield WFR CE has expanded to fill the joint space and is adhered to the substrates, a field-applied silicone corner bead ensures a watertight seal at the substrate interface.
Features
Watertight – Emshield WFR CE is manufactured with tensionless silicone bellows, which when installed with an optional silicone bead on the weather face, maintains a watertight seal in accordance with NF 12154 testing.
Fire Resistance – The fire-retardant-impregnated foam, when properly installed, ensures a 1, 2, 3 or 4-hour fire protection in accordance with EN 1366-4 testing.
Sound Attenuation – Emshield WFR CE minimizes sound transfer which often occurs at the expansion gap.
The Rs.w (C ; Ctr) : is greater than or equal to 54 (-1 ; -3) in accordance with NF EN 10140-2 (2013) and NF EN 12999-1 (2014)
Non-Invasive Anchoring – There are no hard metal-to-substrate connections with Emshield WFR CE. The system is fastened to the joint faces by means of the 1) backpressure of the foam, 2) the epoxy adhesive, and 3) the injected sealant bands at the joint face.
Uses
Emshield WFR CE is designed to be used in movement joints in exterior and interior walls where a combination of watertightness, fire-rating, sound attenuation, and thermal-efficiency are required.
Sizes
For joints from 12mm (1/2-inch) up to 100mm (4-inch)
