PROTAN MECHANICALLY FASTENED WARM ROOF SYSTEM ON STEEL SUBSTRATE

Protan offers a range of high quality products for exposed roofs. The products are secured mechanically to the roof structure. The roof coverings are ideally suited to flat and sloped roofs on new build and renovation projects. Protan's roof coverings and membranes are reinforced and coated with PVC-P (plasticised).

    CONSTRUCTION STRUCTURE:

    • PROTAN SE MEMBRANE
    • PROTAN APPROVED FASTENERS
    • INSULATION
    • VAPOUR CONTROL LAYER
    • STEEL SUBSTRATE

    PROTAN SE MEMBRANE:

    • The Protan SE membrane series is a polyester reinforced PVC membrane that is used on exposed roof surfaces, for new build and renovation projects, pitched or flat roofs.
    • Protan SE membrane is available is several thicknesses and contains stabilizers that allow the product to withstand high and low temperatures, and the products are UV and flame retardant.
    • The products are highly tear-resistant, which is particularly important for mechanical fastening on roofs exposed to wind. Protan SE membrane remains flexible in cold temperatures and is suitable to install in harsh climates.
    • All Protan membrane products feature a unique anti-slip textured surface as a standard that also provides an aesthetically pleasing finish.
    • The membrane is welded together using hot air, has a low carbon footprint and can be recycled.
    • Durability of in excess of 30 years

     SYSTEM INSTALLATION METHOD:

    • Protan Standard Overlap System - The membrane is fastened to the substrate along the longitudinal sheet edges and overlapped by the adjoining roll. The two rolls are welded together using hot air.
    • Protan Prefabricated Sheets system is the best and fastest solution in wind-exposed areas, so it is ideal when the roof has to be covered quickly. The membrane is provided in 2 or 4 metre widths with high strength strips welded longitudinally on the underside for mechanical fastening.
    • Protan Secret Fix System uses a membrane in 2-metre widths with extra strong strips welded transversely to the underside for mechanical fastening.

Please contact Protan for further advice.

    FASTENERS:

    • Protan approved - must be calculated according to EN 1991-1-4 alongside national annexes and local regulations.

    INSULATION:

Various types of insulation, flat or sloped, can be used in combination with Protan membranes. The type of insulation will depend on the building design, local regulation requirements including fire classification.

    • Mineral wool (MW) – can be glass or stone type
    • Polyisocyanurate (PIR) - foil faced
    • Combination EPS-MW

    VAPOUR CONTROL LAYER:

    • Polyethylene
    • Bitumen

    STEEL SUBSTRATE:

    • Profiled metal decking consists of galvanised steel. Minimum recommended thickness 0.7mm to EN 10346 Fe E280G Z275 or local regulations.
