ALUMINUM GUARD RAIL SYSTEM

PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

A. Aluminum Guard Rail Systems.

1.3 REFERENCES

1.4 SUBMITTALS

A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

B. Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:

1. Preparation instructions and recommendations.

2. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

C. Shop Drawings for Aluminum Guard Rail System:

1. Plan and section of aluminum guard rail system installation.

2. Indicate rough opening dimensions for ceiling, roof openings, and/or roof hatch size.

1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Store aluminum guard rail system until installation inside under cover in manufacturer's unopened packaging. If stored outside, store under a tarp or suitable cover.

1.6 WARRANTY

A. Limited Warranty: Five years against defective material and workmanship, covering parts only. Defective parts, as deemed by the manufacturer, will be replaced at no charge, freight excluded, upon inspection at manufacturer's plant.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

B. Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600.

2.2 ALUMINUM GUARD RAIL SYSTEM

A. Aluminum Guard Rail System and Components: Vertical and horizontal rails, mounting brackets, self-closing gate, hardware, and finishes.

1. Models: Model AGRS-H**** [****= opening size in feet and inches; for example AGRS-H2630 is AGRS-H 2’6” x 3’0” (762 mm x 914 mm)] for a roof hatch mounted aluminum guard rail system or AGRS-F**** [****= opening size in feet and inches; for example AGRS-F2630 is AGRS-F 2’6” x 3’0”(762 mm x 914 mm)] for a floor mounted aluminum guard rail system. Aluminum Guard Rail System as manufactured by Precision Ladders, LLC.

2. Capacity: System shall support a load of 200 lbs applied in any direction.

3.Performance Standard: Unit shall comply with OSHA 1910.28 and OSHA 1910.29.

B. Components:

1. Vertical and horizontal rails: Aluminum (6005-T5) 1-1/4” (32 mm) schedule 40 pipe with 1-5/8” (42 mm)OD.

2. Brackets:

a. Roof Hatch Application: Y style 5” x 1-1/4” x 1/8” (127 mm by 32 mm by 4 mm) aluminum square tubing.

b. Floor Opening Application: Flange style cast aluminum fittings 5-1/2” x 2-3/4” x 1/4” (140 mm by 70 mm by 7 mm).

3. Self-closing gate: Aluminum (6005-T5) 1-1/4” (32 mm) schedule 40 pipe with 1-5/8” (42 mm) OD hinged on open side.

4. Hardware: Corrosion resistant hardware and fasteners is standard.

5. Finish: Mill finish aluminum

2.3 FABRICATION

A. Completely fabricate aluminum guard rail system ready for installation before shipment to the site.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Do not begin installation until rough opening and structural support have been properly prepared.

B. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

C. Examine materials upon arrival at site. Notify the carrier and manufacturer of any damage.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with approved submittals.

3.3 PROTECTION

A. Protect installed products until completion of project.

B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
