    CP-VENTIL-GS SYSTEM External ventilated Facade

    Features and benefits

The ventilated façade is a system where the external walls of a building are clad with mechanical fastening and hanging devices.

The system includes a space where a thermalinsulating panel can be fixed on the wall of the building and which also allows for an adequate circulation of rising air (chimney-stack effect).

Ventilated façades protect the building against weather and contaminating agents, but also offers remarkable advantages in terms of thermal and acoustic insulation and can be considered among the most effective outer coverings.

    Architectural design

The large sizes and the broad range of Casalgrande Padana stoneware slabs allow cladding of large vertical, inclined and curved surfaces; thus designers are free to express their architectural ideas without constraints.

The fields of application embrace all types of construction ranging from public and service buildings to shopping and business centers, prestigious office blocks, industrial and residential constructions.

Different sizes and colors together with particular surface textures are available for all these sectors and all of them are suitable for fixing with both visible invisible fastening systems. For new buildings but also for renovations the ventilated façades with porcelain slabs offer remarkable advantages in both economic and aesthetical terms.

    The system

CP-VENTIL-GS is an innovative invisible system for ventilated façades, different from all others. Its most evidently unique feature is the metal bearing structure, which is mechanically secured directly to the back of the tiles with steel screws inserted into special slotted holes. The tile/structure assembly, performed and controlled in full in the factory, is “elasticized” by applying a layer of silicon-based glue between all the metal and ceramic elements in order to absorb any vibration and expansion.

The slotted holes (Figure 2) into which the special steel screws are inserted for the tile/structure assembly can be made on both traditional 10mm-thick tiles and on Kontinua 120x240cm, 120x278cm and 160x320cm tiles with a thickness of 6.5mm; the latter are always supplied with reinforcement backing.

    ADVANTAGES

    • Ease of installation
    • Easy to adapt the slabs to fit the grid system
    • Patterns can be created on the facade by using different shapes and by not lining up the joints
    • Placing the slabs with a closed joint
    • Possibility of horizontal joints of different thickness from vertical joints
    • Ideal for installing Kontinua large slabs on a building facade
    • Industrialisation of the slabs production process
    • Width of joints to be chosen by the designer, from 1 to 8 mm
    • Joints are closed to avoid the passage of water, insects, etc

    • Joints

The profiles of the bearing structure are shaped in such a way as to “close the joints”, both horizontal and vertical, to keep out rainwater and insects and give continuity to the ventilation channel.

The grooves on the profiles also allow designers to choose and pre-select the exact width of both the horizontal and vertical joints, which can vary from a minimum of 1mm to a maximum of 8mm.

      Appearance and design

Another signature element and advantage of the CP-VENTIL-GS system is the possibility to easily combine different formats and tiles thicknesses on the same wall.

During the assembly phase in the factory, along the same profiles of the bearing structure, and therefore on the same panel, it is possible to mechanically fit not only the ceramic tile, but also ceramic listels with different colours, textures, surfaces, thicknesses and even materials.

This makes it possible to create fine architectural details at a decidedly competitive cost compared to other systems.

      Guided installation

Another feature of this particular bearing structure fitted on the back of the tiles are the special grooves that “guide” the installation, making it easy and intuitive. This feature, besides guaranteeing a highly attractive, functional façade, also makes installation quick and therefore inexpensive.

In addition, since the tiles are delivered to the construction site already fitted with the bearing structure mounted on the back, the CP-VENTIL-GS system is particularly suitable for export abroad.
